Here’s What You Need to Know:

If you have been considering a heat pump or heat pump water heater for your home, get your installation in 2025. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit, also called the 25C credit, is only available now through December 31, 2025. After that, this $2,000 incentive will be gone.

Here’s how it works – homeowners who install qualifying heat pumps or heat pump water heaters can claim a federal tax credit equal to 30% of the project cost, or up to $2,000 per year. To qualify, the equipment must meet or exceed the highest efficiency tier set by the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) and must be installed by December 31, 2025.

Heat pumps are some of the most efficient home upgrades available today, providing both heating and cooling in one system. Modern HVAC systems perform reliably even in colder climates (down to -13°!), and homeowners who switch from oil heating often see substantial reductions in their annual energy bills. It’s an ideal solution for Massachusetts and New Hampshire homeowners. Over time, the savings can add up.

The good news for Massachusetts homeowners is that Mass Save® isn’t going anywhere. The Mass Save® program currently offers rebates of up to $10,000 for eligible heat pump installations. These rebates are expected to stay in place after 2025, but the amounts will gradually decrease starting in 2026. Acting now means securing the maximum incentives while they are still available.

The most important detail is timing. To qualify for the federal tax credit, the system must be installed, paid for, and placed in service (in use) by December 31, 2025.

If you’ve been thinking about upgrading, this is the time to do it to get the rebates and tax credit. By installing before the end of 2025, you can lock in these incentives, cut your upfront costs, and start enjoying a cleaner, more efficient heating and cooling system.

Our team at 128 is here to help and is proud to be the top heat pump installer in Massachusetts. Call or message us today to book your no-cost installation consultation and maximize your savings wit the $2,000 heat pump tax credit.

FAQs on Federal Incentives for Heat Pump Ending:

How can I get the $2,000 heat pump tax credit?

To get the $2,000 heat pump tax credit, you must get eligible HVAC equipment installed before 12/31/25. An HVAC professional like 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric should be able to help confirm that the equipment you’re installing is eligible before installing it.

Can I get both the Mass Save rebates and the federal tax credit on a heat pump?

Yes. In Massachusetts, you can still take advantage of both the Mass Save rebates up to $10,000 and the federal tax credit of up to $2,000 for a heating and cooling installation.

Can heat pumps do heating and cooling?

Yes, heat pumps are a great option for year-round use of heating and cooling and doesn’t require ductwork – great for Massachusetts winters and summers.

What happens if I wait to get a heat pump installed until after 2025?

If you wait until after December 31, 2025, you’ll miss out on the federal tax credit of up to $2,000 per year for qualifying heat pump installations. While Mass Save® rebates will still be available, the rebate amounts are scheduled to decrease starting in 2026.

Why is this important?

We do more than just repair and installation; we serve as your allies in elevating your home’s energy efficiency and securing those valuable rebates and loans.

Learn How Trenchless Pipe Lining Can Save Your Potable Water System

Installing trenchless pipe lining is an innovative solution to help fix leaking water pipes. Trenchless lining is less invasive to the scenery around your Massachusetts home than the traditional, non-trenchless pipe lining techniques sometimes used for protecting your potable H20 system. Also, trenchless pipelining helps keep home maintenance costs down with trenchless lining eliminating the need for digging.

In the recent past, using a trenchless lining method for a pipe that leaked wasn’t a viable option for a home or business owner, but new technologies make trenchless lining an excellent method of fixing leaks. The trenchless lining epoxy resin used to make trenchless pipelining coats the inside of damaged pipes. Trenchless pipe lining plugs the cracks and holes that otherwise allow contaminants into the water system.

Why 128 Plumbing Recommends Trenchless Pipe Lining

At 128 Plumbing, we understand that you put a lot into maintaining the appearance of your home, so we recommend non-invasive processes, such as trenchless pipelining, whenever it’s a suitable solution for your plumbing problems.

Trenchless pipe lining, which is also called cured in place piping or CIPP, is one of the latest trends in trenchless pipe repair. Trenchless pipe lining eliminates the need to tear up lawns and driveways for our Massachusetts customers. Plus, trenchless pipe lining is one of the most cost-effective trenchless pipe mending techniques. That means we’re able to use trenchless pipelining to fix damage to pipes that are open to contaminants due to bursting or cracking, helping you manage your home maintenance costs.

Preliminary Pipelining Inspection

The trenchless pipe lining repair process from 128 Plumbing begins with cleaning of the pipe and an inspection so we can accurately diagnose the pipe damage before proceeding with trenchless pipelining. With accurate measurements of the length and diameter of the piping that’s damaged and open to water contaminants, your trenchless lining technician from 128 Plumbing can determine the amount of trenchless epoxy relining resin required for the trenchless pipe lining plumbing process.

The Trenchless Pipelining Process

One of the main advantages of trenchless pipelining is that it protects your potable water system without the need to dig up the land around your home or business. Trenchless pipe lining repair does this by going inside the open pipe to make repairs. It’s trenchless because you don’t need a trencher to dig up your lawn, and it works by lining broken pipes.

The trenchless pipelining material, a product called reliner, is then inserted into an open place in the damaged pipe to begin the trenchless pipe relining process. The reliner resurfaces the inner walls of pipes with trenchless lining epoxy, sealing damage from the inside,

The trenchless pipe lining process continues with pressurized air pushing the resin through the pipe to coat the inner walls with a protective layer and seal open cracks and holes. During the process, the trenchless pipelining material turns itself inside out to help with creating a solid bond between the original pipe and the trenchless pipelining resin.

How Long Does Trenchless Pipe Lining Need to Set Up?

After the trenchless pipelining material has been installed inside the original pipe, it takes the trenchless pipelining epoxy about three hours to fully cure. The completed trenchless pipe lining repairs leave your pipes in like-new condition, without any need for new pipe placement that could otherwise damage tree roots, tear up sidewalks, or destroy any concrete slabs around your home.

The non-invasive aspect of trenchless pipe lining repair means your yard isn’t torn up, leaving you with a landscape mess to resolve. Trenchless pipe lining also ensures you don’t have to go days without access to fresh, potable water, a possibility when other methods are used to repair a leaking pipe. Trenchless pipelining is fast and effective.

Trenchless Pipe Lining Isn’t Just for Water Lines

While keeping your potable H2O supply safe is one purpose for trenchless pipelining, it isn’t the only reason to choose trenchless pipe lining to protect the area around your Massachusetts home or business when a pipe is damaged. Trenchless sewer relining is another type of trenchless pipelining that’s an option for fixing a damaged sewer pipe.

When the pipe from your septic system acts up, trenchless pipelining is an effective way, in many cases, to repair damaged sewage pipes rather than tearing up the ground to replace the pipe. The trenchless pipe lining seals your broken sewer pipe without the need for digging. The new trenchless lining keeps the waste matter inside the septic lines and away from your lawn and pets.

The difficulty of mending sewer pipe damage is why it’s especially important to call a trenchless lining specialist, such as the pros from 128 Plumbing, for trenchless pipe repair. A typical plumber may clear roots and clogs from a pipe, but the damage may still be there, hidden underground.

Trenchless pipe resin goes around bends and curves, distributing an even layer inside of the elbows and joints of the pipe. This trenchless pipe

lining resin mends the damage, restoring the sewer pipe, so sewage doesn’t seep out to create unwanted odors and damage your lawn.

Careers in HVAC are booming, and the HVAC-career field isn’t going anywhere in the near future. In fact, jobs in the heating and air conditioner installation and repair industry are one of the strongest job segments right now. An HVAC-career is one that can’t be easily automated or replaced by technology and robots, and career HVAC workers can expect pretty solid job security. If you’re considering career options in the HVAC industry, check out the many available opportunities at 128 Plumbing. HVAC is a broad field, and there’s plenty of career options for North Shore men and women who enjoy fixing things.

Different Categories of HVAC Careers

While HVAC as a whole deals with the installation and repair of heating units and air conditioners, the HVAC industry itself divides into a few career specializations. Depending on your particular preference, the careers in HVAC you seek may determine not only what type of courses you’ll take in HVAC trade school, but also the kinds of professional HVAC certifications and licensing you’ll need.

HVAC careers fall into two different categories, commercial HVAC and residential HVAC. You may choose to specialize in commercial and industrial refrigeration, and these courses may be part of your HVAC trade school experience. However, for many local HVAC companies like 128 Plumbing in Middlesex County, the techs mainly center around residential HVAC installation and repair.

Entry-Level HVAC Career Jobs

Entry-level HVAC career jobs are for those who have completed an HVAC course or trade school and have less than two years of experience in the field. You’ll be assigned to a veteran HVAC tech for more complicated repairs, although your company may allow you to make basic HVAC installations or fixes solo as you gain more experience. Entry-level HVAC careers include:

Entry-Level HVAC Helper

The very first step for HVAC-careers will be an entry-level helper. You’ll accompany a senior technician on residential or commercial HVAC jobs. Most companies, like 128 Plumbing, have their own fleet of HVAC repair vans, so holding a commercial driver’s license and having a clean driving record may be a condition of hire, and thus affect your career path. You’ll assist with lifting and carrying, and placing parts in the HVAC unit, and clean-up after the HVAC installation is complete.

HVAC Rough-In Installer

The term “rough-in” refers to the initial phases of HVAC equipment installation. These careers include placing electrical, control, and refrigerant lines, installing the thermostat in the HVAC unit, and placing the duct runs and duct boots. This HVAC position requires a little more in-depth knowledge than that of the HVAC helper position. You’ll need to know how to read HVAC blueprints, lay out ductwork, use hand tools and HVAC-specific tools, and braze.

Professional-Level HVAC Career Jobs

Professional HVAC technicians have at least three years of experience in their HVAC career and can take on more independent HVAC installations and repairs. At this point, your company will likely send you out alone on routine service calls; however, a more senior HVAC tech will likely oversee and direct more complicated projects, especially with a large-scale commercial HVAC installation. Common professional-level HVAC careers include:

HVAC Start-Up Technician

Individuals in this career work alongside the HVAC rough-in installer. Once the HVAC rough-in installer finishes their part of the install, the start-up tech arrives on-site to check the HVAC equipment and ensure that it is working according to the manufacturer’s standards. This position involves a thorough knowledge of the “quirks” of different HVAC brands.

Part of the HVAC oversight that a start-up tech will conduct is ensuring that the unit turns properly and the HVAC equipment runs safely and efficiently. These careers include using a manufacturer’s operating manual to check each function of the HVAC system, so being able to quickly read and follow the directions in the user manual will make your job more efficient. Each function of the HVAC unit will need to be tested for safety and efficiency and information about the unit carefully documented for the HVAC warranty.

HVAC Service Technician

As you grow in your HVAC career, you’ll begin to see the different ways that these units can break down. An HVAC service technician will be responsible for both fixing broken equipment and performing preventative maintenance, checking and fixing small problems before they grow into larger issues or a full HVAC shut down.

You’ll be required to diagnose problems, so being able to troubleshoot air distribution, refrigerant, and electrical problems within the HVAC unit are important for success in these careers. To make HVAC repairs, you’ll have to be proficient with many types of tools, such as carbon monoxide testers, wrenches, pipe cutters, acetylene torches, and HVAC Voltmeters.

Mid-Tier HVAC Career Jobs

Moving into the more senior levels of the HVAC career path, you may choose to take on a more supervisory role, mentoring newer HVAC techs. Or, your experience may lead you to more complicated repairs or installations. These mid-level HVAC options are typically for those with at least eight years in HVAC careers. It’s also a time when many people think about changing their careers and starting their own HVAC companies.

HVAC Service Manager

Individuals who choose this career may work within a larger company, overseeing the HVAC and maintenance operations of a manufacturing plant or other commercial entity in the Greater Boston area. They may also be the senior manager of an HVAC company, supervising the less experienced techs and working on more complex HVAC solutions.

As this is both a management position and one that requires HVAC expertise, HVAC service managers will need excellent communication skills and training in how to manage, train, and motivate employees.

HVAC Systems Engineer or Designer

For those who have plenty of HVAC experience in the field, as well as a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, an HVAC system designer may be a career option. You may also be required to hold professional engineering licenses to design various HVAC components and systems.

HVAC systems engineers typically have responsibility for a development team and create HVAC systems, so strong skills in physics, math, computer, and communication are a must for these careers. Your HVAC engineering skillset should also include familiarity with piping and ductwork sizing, contract negotiation with both clients and vendors, site surveying, and HVAC application service protocol establishment.

Senior-Level HVAC Career Jobs

The most senior-level HVAC careers typically involve owning an HVAC installation and repair or engineering business. Your level of knowledge in the HVAC industry may also lead you to a contracting position. To have a successful HVAC company, like 128 Plumbing, you need more than solid knowledge in the heating and cooling industry. You also should have strong marketing skills and a sense of financial management to ensure your HVAC business is profitable.

Many independent contractors seek a specialization in one aspect of the HVAC industry, either residential, commercial, or engineering and HVAC system design. These careers may require further HVAC industry certification, depending on your location and the requirements of operating an HVAC business in your state.

Launching Your Career in HVAC

Providing successful HVAC careers means treating your employees with respect and your customers with courtesy. At 128 Plumbing, we hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards, maintaining professionalism and knowledge of the HVAC industry. We value our clients and technicians and believe in delivering HVAC solutions right the first time.

January is Carbon Monoxide Safety Month, and 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric, a BBB A+ rated home service company with more than 2,000 five-star reviews online, is urging area residents to take preventative measures to avoid carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

“You can’t see, taste or smell carbon monoxide,” said Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric. “It’s an invisible danger that can be especially harmful to children and older adults. While it might seem scary, there are steps homeowners can take to lower or even eliminate many risk factors of CO.”

Symptoms of CO toxicity can be flu-like and include nausea and vomiting, headaches, loss of consciousness, dizziness and weakness. CO poisoning isn’t necessarily fatal, but extreme cases can lead to death. Area residents who suspect they may have been exposed to carbon monoxide should seek fresh air and medical attention.

128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric is offering tips to help homeowners avoid dangerous carbon monoxide toxicity. Williams said a CO detector is a piece of equipment every home should have, but there are other simple steps that Boston residents can take to reduce the risk of CO poisoning in their homes, including:

  1. Change the battery in your CO detector every six months.
  2. Always open the garage door before starting your car.
  3. Use propane gas and fossil fuel burning appliances — such as heaters, furnaces, grills, generators — appropriately and only in open, well-ventilated spaces.
  4. Keep vents and flues clean and free of debris.
  5. Use solvents, such as those found in paint or varnish removers, only in well-ventilated areas or outside.

“One of the best ways to avoid carbon monoxide issues is by making sure furnaces and other heating equipment are in good shape,” Williams said. “Regular annual maintenance is a preventative measure that not only keeps your equipment working properly but also helps keep your family safe. It’s like a tune-up on your car or scheduling a cleaning for your teeth. There are certain things we need to make sure we maintain annually, and your furnace should be on the list. Ask your heating professional to check your home’s CO level.”

128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric is announcing the launch of Donate with 128, a new charity campaign designed to create awareness for charities throughout the year

WAKEFIELD, Mass., March 14, 2018 — 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric, a BBB A+ rated home service company with more than 1,000 five-star reviews online, is officially announcing the launch of its new Donate with 128 charity video campaign.

Wakefield home services company 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric works to serve the communities of the Greater Boston region.
Inspired in part by the family-owned company’s successful Hurricane Harvey charity drive that filled their office with donated goods for families in need, the Donate with 128 campaign is a monthly initiative to donate $1,000 to a different charity every month throughout the year. Each donation will be featured on the company’s social media along with a contest for a $100 gift card.

“When we saw the outpouring of assistance for our Hurricane Harvey drive, we were truly inspired to continue giving back to our community,” said Lynsie Sabbatelli, director of business development for 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric. “It was great to see our coworkers, customers, families and members of the community put in some hard work and pitch in to help those in need. Rather than deciding on one specific charity to partner with going forward, we realized that we have the perfect platform to increase awareness for multiple charities.”

With the goal of creating more awareness, 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric will post a video to their Facebook page highlighting the specific charity receiving that month’s donation and inviting fans and followers to enter a drawing for the gift card. The winner will not only receive the gift card, but the donation will be made in their name. Charities receiving donations so far have been the American Heart Association, in honor of American Heart Month, and The Jimmy Fund, in honor of Red Sox spring training.

“Not only will we be donating $1,000 to a charity every month, but we hope to inspire those participating in our contests to engage with these charities as well,” said Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric. “We’re passionate about improving homeowner’s lives every day with our services, but we’re also passionate about the many other needs in our community. We hope the Donate with 128 campaign inspires our community to learn more about these charities and find ways to get involved or donate.”

For more information about how you can Donate with 128, watch the donation videos on Facebook here.

WAKEFIELD, Mass., Sept. 13, 2017 — September is National Emergency Preparedness Month, and with hurricanes Harvey and Irma making many aware of the need to prepare for natural disasters, greater Boston-based 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric, a BBB A+ rated home service company with over 850 5-star reviews online, offers tips for dealing with violent storms.

A storm can cause problems from electrical outages, flooding, and water damage. Five years ago, Hurricane Sandy brought winds of over 80 miles per hour to Massachusetts. Statewide, damage from the storm amounted to $20.8 million, according to the National Climatic Data Center.

“Planning is the key to saving lives and protecting property during a hurricane or other natural disasters,” says Ryan Williams, general manager of 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric. “Homeowners should take steps to be ready for a storm long before the winds and rain arrive.”

128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric shares these tips to prepare for emergencies:

Protect your family

Put together a family communication plan so loved ones can stay in touch with one another during a storm. Additionally, have a plan for your pets so they can survive the disaster as well.
In case of an evacuation order, residents need to know evacuation routes and have a plan for where to stay. Know where emergency shelters are located.
Assemble a disaster supply kit, including a flashlight, batteries, cash, first aid supplies, medications and copies of your critical information. If flooding is a possibility, store these items higher up.
If you are not in an area that is advised to evacuate and you decide to stay in your home, plan for adequate supplies – at least three days’ worth – in case you lose power and water and you are not able to leave due to flooding or blocked roads.
Monitor text and email emergency notification systems. The Federal Emergency Management Agency smartphone app is a helpful tool.
Protect your home

Outside the home, trim or remove damaged trees and limbs to protect your roof. Also, clear and repair gutters and downspouts to prevent water damage.
Know where to locate shutoff valves for the home’s utilities.
Protect windows and doors from wind and debris.
Have a sump pump installed in the basement to prevent flooding.
Purchase a portable generator for use during power outages.
Make sure you have adequate insurance coverage.
“For more than 25 years, we’ve had the pleasure of helping our community prepare and respond to significant weather events,” Williams said. “Our customers, employees and community recently joined together and stepped up at our donation drop-off day to support the Houston, Texas, community, and our thoughts at this time are with the people affected by Hurricane Irma.”

For homeowners in the Boston area who would like help in preparing for natural disasters, the professionals at 128 Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric are ready to assist. Please call 1-888-419-4233 or visit www.call128.com.
